Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviewers unanimously commend the cottage for its immaculate condition both inside and out, indicating top marks for cleanliness.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to local shops, scenic walks, and public transport, as well as being a stone's throw from the heart of Coniston.

Guests find the cottage very comfortable, with super comfy beds and a cosy atmosphere, though one comment about the beds could be better slightly impacts the score.

Facilities are generally well-received, with the cottage being well-equipped and having useful additions like a bike storage shed. However, a minor issue with TV signal and the absence of a coffee maker slightly affect the score.

The thoughtful touches, such as a laundry box with useful items, are appreciated by guests. While such gifts are warmly received, it's important to note they are not guaranteed with every stay.

About this property

Enjoying a peaceful location close to the village of Coniston, Curdle Dub is perfect for those wanting to be close to shops and local pub, yet away from the busier villages of Windermere and Ambleside. This luxury property enjoys views of Coniston Water and Grizedale Forest and offers spectacular scenery, walks, water sports and award- winning brewery at the Black Bull pub.

Curdle Dub has been superbly modernised with the finest furnishings and retaining many of its original features. A charming and welcoming cottage full of character and modern-day comforts. Outside is a lovely sitting area with a path to the entrance porch. The sitting room is beautifully appointed, with beams, window seat and feature fireplace with wood burning stove. A lovely room for unwinding after a busy day on the lake or out walking. The kitchen is modern, light and extremely well-equipped. Here guests will find everything needed to whip up a hearty breakfast or delicious evening meal.

Upstairs are two fantastically comfortable bedrooms, cleverly planned to accommodate two couples or family. The Twin room can be made in to a super king if requested in advance. The house bathroom is modern and has P-shaped bath with shower over. Secure bike storage is available outside the cottage, along with parking for one car in the shared parking bays. Please note that this is a very old property and has steep stairs, a step in the kitchen and uneven floors upstairs.

Coniston and the surrounding area have so much to offer, but if one thing must not be missed it is to cruise the lake onboard its famous Victorian steam yacht gondola.

Nestling at the head of Coniston Water, the pretty village of Coniston is surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the Lake District National Park, making it a superb base for touring, with Hawkshead, Ambleside, Windermere and Grasmere just a short drive away. Superb walking, mountain biking and climbing are available locally on Coniston Old Man and Wetherlam, and the lovely woodland trails at Grizedale Forest. For watersports enthusiasts, the quiet lake is ideal for dinghy sailing and canoeing, whilst the less active can enjoy a leisure cruise on the beautiful steam yacht 'Gondola’, or visit Brantwood, the former home of John Ruskin. Nearby attractions include the award-winning village of Hawkshead, home of the Beatrix Potter Gallery, Tarn Hows, one of the most visited beauty spots in the country and Esthwaite Water, famous for its fishing. A first class holiday location at any time of the year.
