Guests have enjoyed the homely atmosphere, the proximity to local shops, cafes, and pubs, and the beautiful walks available right from the doorstep. The cottage's log burner adds to the rustic appeal, and while some guests mentioned minor issues, the overall experience is one of a delightful, traditional cottage ideal for a peaceful getaway.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Most guests found Rose Cottage to be clean and cosy. However, a few guests noted issues with stained mattress covers and a leak, which slightly impacted the overall perception of cleanliness.

The location of Rose Cottage is consistently lauded as ideal, with its proximity to shops, pubs, and scenic walks. Its setting in Castleton is perfect for exploring the Peak District.

Guests describe the cottage as homely and comfortable, particularly praising the comfy bed and log burner. The steep staircase and size of the cottage may not suit everyone, but overall comfort is highly regarded.

Facilities at Rose Cottage are generally good, with a well-appointed kitchen and modern shower. Some guests mentioned issues with heating, windows, and the absence of a TV, which suggests room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.

Guests appreciated the thoughtful touches such as gifts on arrival, although it is noted that such gestures are a delightful surprise and not a guaranteed amenity. The provision of a parking permit and the absence of a TV for a more unplugged experience also reflect considerate planning for guests' stays.

Needs attention/Improvement Very cold - Unable to over ride temperature. Outdoor temperature 0 to -2. Cottage 16°. Cost us £14 per night to heat cottage. Only a few logs and kindling left for us, which only lasted an hour or so. Had to use oven and hob to heat downstairs in the morning. Log Burner - Had not been clean out on arrival. Parking Pass - Unavailable - Sent Message - Offered to drop off Pass for us. Luckily we got away without parking ticket. Hand Soap - Bathroom - Bar of soap left that was used, unhygienic. Hand Pump needs to be left. Bins - There was no room in the bin for our rubbish or recycling. Not as advertised. We had to push the rubbish in public bins. No recycling bin. Made the most of our stay. Will look forward to our summer stay. Hopefully the heating will be sorted for our November 2024 booking.

It's in beautiful location next to the Devils Arse. We loved that there was a fireplace and everything was very homey. Quiet location. We loved to read about the history of this cottage which we found very interesting. Sometimes WiFi wasn't working but it could be dependent on the weather, but overall it was working. There was no cellphone connection so the WiFi was very handy. Hope to stay at this cottage again sometime as it's in a wonderful location at the heart of Castleton.
