Snaptrip says

Wall Cottage in Burford is highly praised for its cleanliness, prime location, and comfort. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the homely feel. The property's proximity to the high street with shops and restaurants adds to its charm. Some concerns were raised about a fuel smell and a lack of certain amenities, but overall, the cottage offers a delightful stay with thoughtful touches like a Christmas tree and treats.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The majority of guests found Wall Cottage to be very clean and spotless, with only one mention of a smell which seems to be an isolated issue rather than a reflection on general cleanliness.

The location is consistently praised for being close to the high street, quiet, and convenient for exploring Burford and nearby towns, making it an ideal base for guests.

Guests find the cottage comfortable, with cosy touches and a homely atmosphere. However, some noted the lack of seating for larger groups and a desire for larger beds, slightly impacting the comfort score.

Facilities are generally well-received, especially the kitchen and courtyard garden. However, there are comments about the lack of certain kitchen utensils, cleaning products, and amenities like toilet roll and bath mats, indicating room for improvement.

Guests mentioned appreciative gestures such as treats on arrival and a Christmas tree, indicating thoughtfulness. However, as these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, they are a bonus rather than a standard provision.

About this property

Wall Cottage is a wonderful Cotswold stone holiday home in the historic market town of Burford. The dwelling is the perfect retreat for a gathering of friends or family who are seeking a relaxing getaway just a stone’s throw from the centre of a vibrant market town.

You are welcomed into a small entrance hall, with hooks to hang your coats and space to kick off your boots, as you enter into the beautiful open-plan living/dining room which has stylish flagstone flooring and has been decorated to a neutral tone, giving it a real comforting and homely feel, where you can relax on the two-seater sofa or one of the armchairs and catch up on your favourite TV show as the woodburning stove that sits within a lovely stone fireplace creates a warming ambience in the whole room.

A continuation of this room is the well-equipped kitchen, that is a wonderful sociable space, with all the appliances required to put your culinary skills to the test, whilst overlooking the garden through the Velux windows and patio doors, as your guests lay the large dining table, ready to tuck into your feast and uncork a bottle of wine!

A convenient cloakroom with a basin and WC completes the ground-floor, just before you walk up the cream carpeted stairs to discover two welcoming bedrooms, which share the floor with the bright and airy bathroom; both containing double beds, and overlooking the rooftops of Burford.

A further staircase leads you to the third bedroom located in the eaves of the property which is a bright and spacious room, overlooking the church, with twin beds and children’s table and chairs, making it perfect for the kids!

Catch the last of the afternoon sun in the enclosed patio garden, that has two-tiers, with the second tier housing a table set and a fire pit which can be used as a barbecue in warm months.

Wall Cottage is located in the heart of the bustling market town of Burford, a picturesque medieval town which is home to a number of independent shops, galleries, restaurants and tearooms; you can have a delicious breakfast at Honeycott’s Coffee and Shakes before enjoying a day surrounded by wildlife at Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens or at Crocodiles of the World, and finish off your day with a lovely meal at The Royal Oak pub.

The High Street descends from the high Wolds down to the River Windrush, offering glorious views across the Windrush Valley, which is lined with ancient cottages, slanting half-timbered houses and refined Georgian townhouses, and there is a museum which illustrates the town’s social and industrial past, Tolsey Museum.

Surrounded by stunning countryside, there are many walks and cycle routes on Burford’s doorstep, as well as a range of popular attractions including Burford Golf Club, and given its central location, Burford is well-placed for exploring the many historic towns and villages of the Cotswolds such as Stow-on-the-Wold, a historical market town, sat at 800 feet above sea level, as well as Bourton-on-the-Water, where the River Windrush flows under the low-rise bridges, giving it the name of the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’, and Cirencester a market town known as the ‘Capital of the Cotswolds’, where you will find fantastic shopping options and an array of attractions for all the family to enjoy.

There is something for all the family in Burford, so choose Wall Cottage as your base and you’ll have a wonderful holiday.

Burford is possibly one of, if not THE most famous of the Cotswolds' locations. With its medieval bridge, old stone houses and attractive Tudor and Georgian frontages, Burford is justifiably one of the most picturesque towns in England. Often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds', the town was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford which later grew to be an important regional crossroads and wealthy wool town. Located mid way between Oxford and Cheltenham (25 mins each away) it is a little haven of history and beauty that many come to fall in love with when they visit.

The 16th century Tolsey building, once the meeting place for medieval merchants, now houses The Tolsey Museum, a delightful local museum illustrating the town's social and industrial past. The church is stunning, a real gem architecturally with many interesting memorials charting some of Burford's great families. There is also the signature, on the baptisimal font, of Antony Sedley, one of the Levellers besieged in the church in 1649 - three of the ringleaders were executed by Oliver Cromwell's men in the churchyard. History awaits!

With little changing over the centuries, Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and teashops. It is an ideal base for visiting The Cotswolds area as it is within easy driving distance of popular attractions such as Blenheim Palace, Sudley Castle, Warwick Castle and several National Trust Houses and Gardens. Bourton on the Water, Bibury, Cirencester and Stow on the Wold are all with 25 minutes from the property.
