About this property

Tintagel 6 miles. Situated on the River Inny in the peaceful area of Davidstow, Cornwall is this single-storey, sunny detached cottage, Kingfisher Cottage. Perfect for a couple or solo traveller, this charming retreat is within easy reach of the coast, with a babbling stream running alongside the cottage for a tranquil break at any time of year. On arrival at the property there is an easy self-service check-in, while a designated off-road parking space makes unloading your bags an easy job. There are welcome gifts to enjoy for both humans and dogs. Step into the sunny open-plan space and begin your holiday with a cup of tea or a light lunch out in the courtyard, where you will also find a barbecue to rustle up your dinners in the warmer evenings. Inside, the kitchen offers everything you need for an elaborate meal, or a quick picnic to enjoy at the beach, including an electric oven and hob and a fridge/freezer. Dine with your loved one at the dining table for two, before unwinding with a film on the Smart TV; choose from a plush sofa where you can snuggle up, or a stylish and sought-after egg chair for the ultimate relaxation. When sleep calls, the double bedroom offers a lovely space to rest your head, with plenty of storage for your belongings, and when you wake, freshen up in the bathroom before setting off on an adventure! For days out while at the cottage you are spoilt for choice. Immerse yourself in history with the grandeur of Roughtor and its Bronze Age ruins on your doorstep in the AONB of Bodmin Moor, or tour the nearby WWII Davidstow Airfield and Cornwall at the War Museum just around the corner. Maybe make your way to the nearby coast for plenty of walking opportunities along one of the most dramatic and beautiful parts of the South West Coast Path. Venture into beautiful Boscastle, which is just a short car journey away, and visit the mystical Museum of Witchcraft and Magic, before enjoying the spectacular views of Warren Point at Boscastle Harbour and discovering the cliff top rock arch, the Ladies Window that lies between Boscastle and Tintagel. In the lively village of Tintagel, there are plenty of attractions to enjoy, foremost the legendary Tintagel Castle amid its vast sea views after crossing the stunning new bridge. Spot seals in Tintagel harbour, and later maybe visit the famous Old Post Office, a Manor House which dates from over six hundred years ago. Follow in the footsteps of King Arthur and explore the dramatic falls of St Nectan's Glen in an enchanting, wooded area, or wander the captivating coves and caves such as Merlin's Cave under the castle or Bossiney Cove, for a private picnic with your loved one. Just down the coast is Port Isaac where you can wander through TV's Doc Martin’s harbour village and visit the well-known fishmonger right on the slipway or, at the top of the village, a wonderful family run cafe and shop where the local lobster and crab are brought in by their own boat. The beaches are famous here, spotlessly clean as they are washed by the sea twice a day, while most are dog-friendly - often, your footprints are the first. Surfers have a wealth of choice of different challenges from the easy to the more tricky like the local secret of Tregardock, where the big tides at full and new moon mean you can get to the other end of the huge beach and forage for the really big mussels. There are many restaurants in the area that range from wonderful cafes like Charlie’s in Tintagel who are proud to use the local produce from this lovely area to more heady establishments if you want to push the boat out, where you can try the food of world famous chefs who include Rick Stein, Paul Ainsworth and Nathan Outlaw.

Camelford, an old market town near Cornwall's north coast, is an ideal location for exploring the wild country of Bodmin Moor and the high cliffs, hidden coves, fishing villages, and surfing beaches that populate this beautiful area. The southwest coastal path is open all year, and the surrounding villages and hamlets have a plethora of country inns and restaurants. Camelford's nearest beach is Trebarwith Strand, which offers both surf for the more daring and safe rock pools for the younger members! It's truly wonderful, and it's only about five miles away. It's ideal for a day by the sea, and it's also dog friendly. Wadebridge has a vibrant shopping centre and the Camel Trail nearby, and Padstow, Rock, Polzeath, Port Isaac, where Doc Martin is filmed, and Tintagel are all within 30 minutes. All year round, this is a fantastic location.
