About this property

This stone-built cottage rests in the delightful village of Giggleswick, North Yorkshire. Boasting character features over two floors, Rose Cottage welcomes families and couples looking to escape everyday life and explore the wonders of North Yorkshire. After a day of fell walking, retire to the charming sitting room to catch up on your rest, appointed with plush seating and a cosy woodburning stove which is sure to be used in the winter months. The kitchen is compact but comes well-equipped with all the essentials for home-cooking, including an electric double oven, halogen hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and even a dishwasher, so you won’t have to raise a finger when cleaning up! Move upstairs and discover the bedrooms; the master houses a king-size bed whilst the second room has a single, each neutrally presented and featuring ample storage, both beds filled with cosy feather duvets. The cottage has no designated parking however there is ample street parking opposite. Get to know the picturesque Dales village of Giggleswick, home to two fantastic pubs where you can refuel with a pint and pie, or head to Settle to find the nearest convenience store if you fancy cooking yourself. With a myriad of paths, lanes and bridleways from the doorstep, guests can experience walking and cycling through some of the most scenic countryside in the Yorkshire Dales, whilst for the more experienced and energetic guests there is plenty of the famous Three Peaks challenge. Other attractions in the area include the wonderful Falconry Centre and the stunning Carlisle Railway line, recognised as being one of the most scenic railway routes in Britain. Rose Cottage is a welcoming escape, whatever time of year.

This charming Ribblesdale village is located just across the river from the vibrant market town of Settle and beneath a limestone scar that is a component of the Craven fault. The 'date stones' over their doorways will indicate that many of the robust homes and cottages in this extremely picturesque location date to the 17th century. The picturesque St. Alkelda's church, which dates to the 12th century, and the iconic domed chapel of the illustrious Giggleswick School, which dominates the local skyline, remain the focal points of the village today. There are two pubs in Giggleswick, and Settle, a small market town, is close by and offers a wide range of services. The village of Ingleton is further away and has a beautiful waterfall trek, and the Three Peaks are nearby (for serious walkers, of course).

Lots of books and games. Nicely decorated. Bedrooms very nice and comfortable. Kitchen and bathroom looking tired and would benefit from updating. Central heating was on 24/7! Very hot at night. No off switch so had to adjust wall stat every hour or so. Nice neighbour helped us with rubbish collection times. Info was out of date. However, we had a very nice stay.

Stayed at this cottage several times last year. Clean and comfortable, we are always satisfied. Sykes description and listing spot on. Great location. On the downside we found the main oven not to be working. Instructions on how to use the tv a must and a mirror in the main bedroom would be useful. Apologies for breaking a dinner plate. Would definitely recommend the cottage and already planning another stay later this year. Regards, Paul and Clare

I banged my head and jarred my neck which badly affected my enjoyment of the first two days. Some instructions for using the TV would be useful, ditto controlling the heating/hot water system.
