About this property

Swn y Gwynt is all about the setting and the stunning views across Cardigan Bay with the backdrop of mountains and Harlech castle. This lovely holiday cottage is owned by a Dutch family who have refurbished it to a high standard whilst retaining its original charm. It is an 'upside down' house, making the most of the spectacular sea views. The open plan sitting room is surrounded by a balcony - open the door and bring the outside in and while away the hours watching the sun setting over the bay.

The small and welcoming entrance hall has a well stocked bookcase for your holiday reading.

On the first floor the open plan sitting and dining room is a lovely sociable family space. It has large windows and a door onto the balcony which make it the perfect place to sip wine whilst watching the sunset over the bay. It is a light and spacious room with fantastic views and lovely homely touches including a selection of children's games stored in the antique crib. There is a flatscreen TV and DVD player, comfy fern green sofas and chairs and an open fireplace, ideal for those real fires on blustery winter evenings.

The dining area is bright and cheerful and is situated at one end of the sitting room next to the kitchen.

The fully equipped kitchen has views of the surrounding countryside. It has a large fridge, microwave, dishwasher, electric oven, combination microwave cooker, electric hob and extractor hood. For the chef of the party there are plenty of cookery books for you to enjoy!

There is a separate small utility room with a second fridge, washing machine and freezer.

There is a cloakroom with loo and wash hand basin.

On the ground floor there are three bedrooms and a family bathroom. The first bedroom is light and airy with a double bed, built in wardrobes and fabulous sea views. The second bedroom is another double with stunning views. The third is a twin bedroom with two single beds and countryside views.

The funky retro style family bathroom has a wash hand basin, bidet, jacuzzi bath and separate shower with grab rails and seat for the less mobile.

Outside there is parking for 2 cars. The beautiful gardens surround the house where you can relax and enjoy the peace and scenery from the raised seating area. The sea views at the front and the open fields all around make this a wonderful place to relax with friends or family. The patio area at the side of the house has seating and a built in area for using portable BBQ's (bring your own disposable BBQ).

It is easy to pop down to the beach and the town of Criccieth for a bit of hustle and bustle. You can wander around the quirky shops, and lovely restaurants - or have an evening pint in the pub. Take a night off from cooking and try the fish and chips - they are excellent!

Please note that the garden is on different levels in parts and there is a balcony with railings on the first floor from the sitting room, so it may not be ideal for the very young or elderly and care must be taken. The drive is fairly steep and narrow when reversing.

Often described as the 'Pearl of Wales on the shores of Snowdonia’, this delightful seaside town is situated just 5 miles from Porthmadog. The town’s 13th century castle perches majestically on a rocky outcrop, dominating the skyline and offering superb views of Tremadog Bay and the Snowdonia mountains. Watersports enthusiasts will be delighted by the two beaches, whilst walkers and bikers are spoilt for choice by the proximity of the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. Stroll along the beaches, watch porpoises playing in the surf, or relax in the various pubs, restaurants and tea rooms, sampling the famous Cadwalader’s ice cream. Further afield, attractions such as Portmeirion’s wonderful Italianate gardens, the Ffestiniog railway in Porthmadog, Harlech Castle, Caernarfon Castle and the beautiful beaches and renowned golf courses of the Llyn Peninsula are all within an easy drive.

We really love the house it’s so homely. The new mattress in the master bedroom is super comfy. Really sad to leave. Had a wonderful relaxing holiday. When can we book again for next year? We have already looked but it’s showing no availability yet. We can’t wait to return to this little corner of heaven.

Very nice inside with all the facilities you need. Parking space front of property and a good spot to travel to all local places like Portmeirion, zip lines and many other places, all within reasonable distances. Sea front 5 minutes walk away with Main Street the same with shops, restaurants close by. Had a really nice time and would definitely go again. All arrangements made very easy A+++
